Foundation dimple mat made of material or not?
It appears that there are two major types of product for dimple boards used in foundations for houses with completely different strategies. A plain hdpe sheet in which the dimple mat is arranged in front of the to the wall. Hydrostatic pressure is created on the outside of the plastic. Any flowing water that enters the plastic will flow through an air space between wall and plastic until it drains. A sheet of HDPE with one layers of filter cloth attached to the dimples' peaks. The sheet is positioned so that the peaks/fabric faces towards the outside . Hyrostatic pressure is present on the fabric. Water that is intruding will flow down the sheet of plastic. There is no air gap between the plastic sheet and the foundation. Lowers costs for maintenance One of the greatest advantages of membranes is the cost savings.
